Description
In partnership with the Sciences Art Culture department of the University of Franche-Comté and as part of the project of Besançon Botanical Garden moving from the city center to the Campus, we have re-invited the Collectif bim and Atelier Bivouac to work with us. They worked from March 18 to 24, 2018, to the recognition and appropriation of the site of the future Botanical Garden with the complicity of the planters.
For the two collectives, this residence follows (as in 2017-2018) their joint residence at POLAU in 2017 on the intersection between artistic practice and spatial planning. This week’s challenge at Campus de la Bouloie was to experiment how putting bodies into play in a place makes it possible to design and share a landscape project with local actors.
Following several times of discussion and consultation, three wooden constructions were carried out (the raft, the gangway and two benches) in order to improve the reception of the public and the life of the gardeners on the future site of the Botanical Garden, in the heart of the campus. With the support of the activities offered by Fabrikà’s Sciences, each structure allows you to approach and show the different ecosystems and plants around the botanical garden (forest, edge and meadow).

Biographies
Le Collectif bim
The Collective bim brings together more than twenty performers. Together, they compose and explore an artistic field halfway between theater and dance, which allows them to get out of established codes and places dedicated to representation. They create bodily performances in situ by reinterpreting, emphasizing, diverting inhabited spaces, always with a touch of humor and poetry. Always collective, their creations most often come to life in teams of 3 to 10 performers. They make it a point of honor to regularly open their practice to other creators (architects, landscapers, dancers, photographers, videographers, associations, etc.), not to mention the many participatory projects carried out with groups. amateurs (children, professional groups, residents, retirees).
L’Atelier Bivouac
Bivouac workshop is a landscaper collective gather around a commun inspiration: explore new ways to develop public space projects. For them, experimentation and research are inseparable from physic territory experience: be here and attentive, live here and now. Their project work is built on an immersive approach: they propose to inhabit for a time the order place and deploy an open sky workshop. This presence on the spot allows them to understand needs and inspirations of the one who live here and make territories alive to formulate and build an appropriated answer, singular and wise. By their attention to “what’s already here”, by their inventory works, by saving means, they are taking advantage from local resources, by reusing and recycling.
