Description
OCT 2016: RANDOM WANDERING
The schoolchildren of La Grette and La Butte met each other and once again enjoyed a week full of discovery together! For this first intervention, the artist Eltono proposed them a stroll in the town centre with only tools: a map to trace their route and a dice to guide them at random intersections… The result? A sculpture bringing together all the routes cut out and painted that will travel from one school to another!
JAN 2017: SYNCHRONIZED ANIMATION EXERCISE
The schoolchildren of La Grette and La Butte worked on their small muscles, memory and coordination for this 2nd session of the school year!
Inspired by choreographic games featuring facades from all over the world, Eltono suggested that the children take their turn playing with the windows of their schools. Thus, after time to explain the project, to paint the panels and then to rehearse collectively with Eltono (conductor for the occasion) and their teacher (relay conductors), the pupils had their panels dance in a choir, offering an impressive show to their classmates and parents. A big BRAVO to the 50 CP, CE1, CE2-CM1 of the Grette school and to the 62 Ulis, CE2, CE2-CM1 of the Butte school!
APRIL 2017: COLLECTIVE MURAL PAINTING
From 4 to 14 April 2017, the inhabitants of the districts of La Grette and La Butte were able to create a mural with the artist Eltono. True to form, Eltono first of all composed a grid on the wall and then proposed to the children and adults of the two districts to draw lots for several variables which then allowed them to paint 2 lines each on the wall: 4 then 3 numbers among 15 digits, as well as one colour among 4 possibilities were drawn at random and came to define the aspect of the line.
These painting workshops were a good opportunity for the participants and the parents accompanying their children to meet Eltono and to question him about his practice as an artist, the origin of his abstract compositions in the urban space, but also on the choice of the intervention process for the painting in progress.
Following its realization, the participants were invited to join Eltono to celebrate the inauguration of the mural on Friday the 14th in front of the associative premises on rue de la Grette, with students from the Grette and Butte schools.
Action
COLOCAL ARTS EDUCATION CONTRACT
In the framework of its educational policy and in its 2010>2020 Cultural Orientation Plan, the city of Besançon has decided to set up, in conjunction with artists, projects to raise awareness and introduce primary school pupils to different artistic practices. These projects are organised within the framework of a Local Contract for Artistic Education (CLEA) set up by the City of Besançon and supported by the DRAC Bourgogne – Franche-Comté.
For the school years 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017, the association Juste Ici has been chosen to involve an artist with the pupils of two primary schools: the school of la Butte and the school of la Grette. More than 160 children from classes from CP to CM2 meet the artist Eltono through nine stages of collective and participative artistic creations in the public space.
Having started with a visit to Bien Urbain, the objective of the project is to bring the pupils to discover the field of urban arts, as much through sensitivity as through practice.
Biography
From abstract graffiti to installations, Eltono is constantly looking for the anomalies or systems of repetitions at work in the towns that he visits. His curiosity leads him to create extremely methodical and often aleatory abstract series (paintings on doors, installations, sculptures, walks…). He rarely maintains control over what he has created, letting the city and its users modify, alter, or enhance his offerings developed under constraints, creating potential works of art in construction.
